Considering the condense package of emotions and history of Çanakkale Wars in the geography of Gallipoli, and adopting the idea that architecture is also responsible for the intuitive needs of human nature, design of the martyrs was triggered by the introspection of this unique landscape. Thus, the experience was the primary to be designed, which can humble and at the same time exalt the visitors.
Martyr memorials are deliberately positioned nearby the mass graves without referring their precise
locations. Thus, martyrs are respected and accepted as a piece of this (necro)geography in a form of
modesty.
Memorial pieces, made of steel, are laid parallel to the earth surface. While steel reflects the
eternal sky and the nature around, the martyrs are getting fused into the necrogeography. Names of
the martyrs are laser cut on these steel structures and the vegetation of the landscape is even
popping out of these cuts and cracks, simulating a literal life and struggles of marthys. For the
night view, artificial lighting is located under the steel structures, thus their names are always
shining.
